Rat City Rollergirls and KeyArena Celebrate Earth Month
'Earth Fair' This Saturday, April 10
The Rat City Rollergirls return to KeyArena for an April 10, 2010 bout of high-action athletics and hard hitting excitement. Tickets are on sale now at all Ticketmaster locations!
KeyArena and Rat City will celebrate Earth Month with their new green-colored track and an "Earth Fair" on the concourse preceding the bout. Guests will have the opportunity to browse booths hosted by local organizations promoting eco-friendly living and preservation – including Earth Corps, Green Seattle Partnership, Adopt a Stream, Stilly-Snohomish Fisheries Enhancement and more. Booths can be found in the South West Coca-Cola Corner where a 10 foot tall bottle replica made entirely of recycled cans is displayed.
Attendance keeps getting bigger! Thousands of fans have discovered Rat City Rollergirls and the crowds keep growing. Last month, Rat City set a national record with over 5,000 fans coming out to cheer for Seattle’s Roller Derby League. This bout promises more of the same. Don’t miss out on live flat track roller derby in Seattle. Experience the sport that’s taking the nation by storm. You’ll be amazed by the hard hits and sheer athleticism of the players from Seattle’s premier home teams.
Seattle Center, including KeyArena, reduces its environmental impact through conservation, recycling and composting. Low flow lavatories, lower impact light bulbs and measures such as setting heating and cooling temperatures moderately and lowering building lighting levels allow Seattle Center and KeyArena to reduce water and energy consumption. Arena and Center staff recycles all recyclable plastics, glass, tin bottles and cans as well as batteries, light bulbs, paint and carpet. Center House Food Court vendors and the KeyArena concessionaire, Aramark, use compostable utensils, cold cups, plates and napkins at concession stands, compost pre and post consumer food waste and partner with a local processor to reuse cooking oil for bio diesel.
Doors open at 4:30 pm and bouting begins at 5:30 pm. Don’t miss as the Derby Liberation Front will try to bury Grave Danger and the Sockit Wenches will face the Throttle Rockets.
