Multi-year agreement at KeyArena at Seattle Center
FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
Seattle, WA (July 28, 2015) –AEG Facilities, the world leader in venue operations, has renewed its venue services agreement with KeyArena at Seattle Center, Seattle’s premier venue for live concerts, family entertainment, and sporting events, AEG Facilities and the Seattle Center announced today. AEG Facilities will continue to provide KeyArena venue support services including the management of premium seating, sponsorship, programming and marketing. The City of Seattle, which owns and operates the arena at Seattle Center, first entered into partnership with AEG Facilities in late 2008.
“It is a good day for Seattle Center as we continue this multi-year agreement with AEG Facilities,” Seattle Center Director Robert Nellams stated. “This partnership at KeyArena has been a successful one, allowing KeyArena to continue to be an important contributor to the financial success of all of Seattle Center. It is an outstanding example of the win-win relationships we strive for here at the Center.”
Since the establishment of the original partnership between AEG Facilities and Seattle Center, KeyArena has been ranked among the top 100 arenas worldwide according to Pollstar, the leading live entertainment industry publication, in ticket sales for live touring events (2010-2014). During this period, KeyArena also boasted one of the most financially successful years in the building’s history.
“Seattle is one of the world’s most vibrant sport and entertainment markets and KeyArena is one of the leading venues in the world,” said Bob Newman, President, AEG Facilities. “We look forward to continuing our partnership with the City of Seattle and the Seattle Center and to providing the Seattle region community and unparalleled diversity of high profile events and guest services.”
This past March, after an absence of more than a decade, KeyArena hosted the 2015 NCAA® Division I Men’s Basketball Championship 2nd/3rd Rounds. The arena has also welcomed music’s biggest stars including: Ariana Grande, Eric Church, Neil Diamond, Bette Midler, among others. More recently Shania Twain kicked off her Rock This Country Tour at KeyArena, her first North American tour in over a decade, and Canadian superstars RUSH performed on their R40 Live 40th Anniversary Tour.
Mirroring the success of the past five years, KeyArena has some of the hottest shows on the 2015 calendar including Kelly Clarkson, comedian Kevin Hart, The WHO, alt-J and Florence and The Machine. KeyArena will once again serve as a main stage for Bumbershoot®, a 45-year music tradition in which AEG Live recently partnered to produce with local non-profit One Reel.
In August, KeyArena also welcomes back The International DOTA2 Championship, an online video gaming tournament that claims the world’s largest e-sport prize pool.
